The AFS is the world’s premier forum for African agriculture and food systems, bringing together stakeholders from around the Globe to take practical actions and share lessons that will move African Food Systems forward. The Forum presented us an opportunity to leverage emerging opportunities, collaborations and networks that shall enhance our farmers production and productivity in building resilient and profitable farming businesses as we transition from Peasantry to Entrepreneurship.
We were encouraged and blessed by the words of HE. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, former president of the Republic of Nigeria. “In his words he said, “Our duty as older people is to encourage young people to use technology and take over food systems transformation. Africa is in the hands of the young people and they are the ones who will push us forward”
Notably, 1 in every 5 people on the continent is starving. There is therefore an urgent need to increase production and productivity of nutritious foods in a sustainable environment with the growing population. To address this gap, there is need to deliberately increase adoption of technology in Agricultural Production including A.I and Drone technology to hasten production and timely combat any challenges especially pests and changes in weather patterns.
By increasing young farmers access to Climate Smart Technologies, Extension Services and Linkage to reliable Output Markets, farming continues to become more profitable and attractive to Young people. Doing this doesn’t not only increase their incomes but also increases amount of available food, and unlocks endless employment opportunities. This we continue to commit to do as Agro and More, Ltd. Our sincere appreciation to the Roddenberry Foundation and the +1 Food security Team who made this trip possible and enjoyable!
We are a youth founded enterprise that is located in Kampala Uganda and spreading out, we exist to supply genuine farm inputs, and do extension services.
