A company that provides smallholder farmers access to quality, affordable farm inputs and advisory services with linkage to output markets so that they can transition into commercial farmers to improve livelihoods.
A Uganda where all subsistence farmers make a decent living enough to transition to commercial farmers.
In 2018, fresh out of Makerere University with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture I had dreams of becoming a Government Extension Officer or work with one of the prominent NGOs. Then COVID-19 hit. The world stopped. The job market collapsed. Every door closed.
Desperate and unemployed, my brother and I turned to the garden. We planted tomatoes and bell peppers. I was the “expert” with the degree. He was the “lay farmer”. I offered technical advice which he trusted.
As the tomatoes neared flowering, they wilted. Then rotted. We lost 60% of our tomato crop and almost all the peppers. We lost about $780. Money we hoped to multiply all lost. But worse than the money, I had failed my brother. He had believed in me and I had let him down.
It was hard to walk away. Hard to explain away, so I went back to the beginning.
I studied every tomato and pepper variety on the market, compared input combinations with experienced farmers and researched crop protection. And then I saw it, we had planted the wrong seed. Poor quality. Susceptible to disease. It didn’t stand a chance!
In that process of research, I realized the knowledge gap wasn’t just mine. It was everywhere.
Thousands of smallholder farmers across Uganda facing the same challenges with no degree, no access to research, no one in their reach for guidance. The Agro input outlet we bought this seed from operated like grocery store, selling products they didn’t understand to farmers who trusted them. Maybe, if he had informed me about the seed I was buying we wouldn’t have lost so much money. While it was too late for me, I didn’t want other farmers to befall the same fate.
On October 14th 2020, we opened our first Outlet in Mpigi Town. One small outlet with a big dream to supply Genuine and Affordable farm inputs with Advisory services so the farmers can make informed decisions.
Our first farmer client came to buy cabbage seeds and quickly grew into hundreds. The need was that serious! They travelled from distant villages just to ask questions. By end of 2023, we had three outlets operated by Diploma holders.
Today, Agro and More operates 8 Physical Outlets and a Mobile app across Uganda. Our team has grown to over 25 Youth reaching more than 30,500 Farmers and counting!
Our dream? A Uganda where every Smallholder farmer earns enough to become a Commercial farmer. Where no one loses their harvest because they didn’t have the right seed or the right advice.

I had never seen 20 plants of tomatoes giving over 2.5 basins and I will plant this same type next season doing whatever we were taught. I once planted tomatoes (Rio grande) and I lost all of them to disease (Wilt). I have seen that quality can defeat quantity.
I don’t know which words I can use to thank Agro and More for coming to us. It was my prayer for my group. Now everyone will be sure to have food in their granaries next year from quality seeds. I couldn’t believe my eyes after harvesting 5 bags of maize from quarter an acre and if not for thieves, we would harvest even more. The one time I grew local maize as an individual I harvested 5 bags from 2.5 acres. Imagine.
My Name is Grace Birungi, I am passion fruit farmer on Butoro Island in Kamengo subcounty in Mpigi District
Passion fruit farming a very lucrative business that I would never compare any other farming venture. The fruits have un satisfiable demand thus easy to market. However, the plant is very susceptible to sucking pests and therefore viral diseases including mosaics and woodiness which are very hard to treat. If not well managed, mosaics and woodiness can lead to over 75% loss in fruit yield. Farming with the agronomists from Agro and more helps me to manage the pests by selecting and alternating for me effective insecticides to minimize the pest tolerance. Because of this, I have expanded my orchard from half acre to now one full acre.
My name is Bogere Geofrey a ginger from Butambala District. My family and I rely on this blessed crop ginger, for our livelihood. I have built my house, married my wife, and now educating my children from this enterprise. During Covid 19, the demand for the crop went up high due to its health attributes. While this was a good thing, it only lasted a short while before the business got Infiltrated by middlemen who bought our harvests at peanut. When I started sourcing my inputs from Agro and more outlet in gombe town council, I was registered in the ginger producer group which brings us together as ginger farmers from the region under the supervision of agro and more ltd. Now, I no longer sale my ginger produce as an individual but rather as a group to Khamisa Foods Ltd for export. Because of this, we are able to get better returns from our harvests than when we sold to middle men.
My name is Beatrice, a widow and proud mother of two daughters. I am a farmer in Kibibi Village of Butambala district. For a long time my cabbages made small heads and were frequently attacked by pests and diseases. This was due to the poor seeds I always selected. Because of this our income was very poor.
In 2021 I joined Agro and more Ltd after they opened a branch in Kibibi my home village. They have since transformed our farming significantly They guide me in selection of all my inputs including seeds. Their inputs are affordable and sometimes I buy in bulk, they deliver to my door step so I don’t have to incur transport costs. They also send me their agronomist to demonstrate certain skills and practices or, to monitor the performance of the inputs supplied. When our harvest is due, they link us to buyers of our cabbages from Kampala City who offer good prices. I am now confident my daughters shall finish school, I have to expand my acreage.
